Happy Swissy Acres was founded because of our love for the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog and the desire to educate people and see the Swissy become everything it was intended to be. That includes bringing the right kind of dogs together to form a litter. I researched the breed for three years before we decided it was time to finally get my first puppy, a boy and three more years before we found our female.
A little history about us. My Dad had been a dog handler in the military, so I grew up around German Shepherds, Rottweilers and other large or medium mixed breeds. My husband also grew up with dogs of all sizes pure or mixed and like me preferred larger breeds.
We wanted a large dog with a great temperament who would watch over things and be close with the family; Swissies fit this criteria perfectly. We now have three kids and our Swissies have been faithful and loyal companions.
Monte was our first, his name means mountain and he did not disappoint. Three years after we brought Monte home we brought home Chloe. They are great examples the breed, a perfect match and the best of friends.
Now we have a chance to educate people about this noble breed.
